چکیده
Abstract The objective of this study was to characterize and compare the hematological variables (erythrogram, thrombogram, leukogram plasma metabolites) three cichlid species: Cichla monoculus, temensis vazzoleri. A total 45 specimens were captured in Balbina lake, Presidente Figueiredo, Amazonas, Brazil, with aid a rod reel or hand line, natural artificial bait: 15 C. Their blood removed by means caudal puncture dorsal aorta, data determined accordance methodology previously described literature. erythrogram showed similarities between species, while thrombogram differences vazzoleri other species studied (C. monoculus temensis). leukocyte counts for higher than those monoculus. predominant lymphocytes, whereas it monocytes metabolites regarding their glucose, cholesterol, urea potassium levels. It is concluded that these present differentiation, thus indicating they have differentiated blood-cell immune responses metabolite physiology.

Feed training of peacock bass (Cichla sp.).
The Amazonian cichlid peacock bass (Cichla sp.) is a highly marketable food and sport fish, therefore a suitable species for aquaculture. However, because of its piscivorous feeding preferences, the species does not accept dry feeds voluntarily, turning its intensive culture difficult and costly. This study aimed to wean fingerling peacock bass from inert moist food to dry diets. In a first exp...
متن کاملEstimation of peacock bass (Cichla spp.) mortality rate during catch-release fishing employing different post-capture procedures.
The effect of catch-and-release fishing on the survival of peacock bass (Cichla spp.) was evaluated by comparing two types of artificial bait (jig and shallow-diver plugs) and two types of post-catch confinement. Two experiments were conducted during the periods January-February and October-November 2012 in the Unini River, a right-bank tributary of the Negro River. In total, 191 peacock bass w...

Esterase (Est) and esterase-D (Est-D) electrophoretic patterns identified by starch gel electrophoresis of skeletal muscle protein extracts of 184 specimens of three species of peacock bass, locally known as tucunares (Cichla monoculus, C. temensis and Cichla sp), plus four specimens of a supposed hybrid (C. monoculus vs C. temensis), collected from the Central Amazon, were examined to determin...

Of all the amycines, the acutidens group of species of Mago is one of the most commonly collected groups throughout the Amazon. Redescriptions of M. acutidens Simon and M. longidens Simon by Galiano initially helped separating the two species, but then it became clear that we were dealing with a group of several similar species demanding revision. In order to make identification possible, we pr...
